CHILDREN’S MUSEUM SHOWS DISINTEREST WHEN RAD

POINTS-OUT HIGH ADMINISTRATION & DEPRECIATION COSTS

Pittsburgh, Oct. 25 – Children’s Museum Executive Director Jane Werner responded that the Museum is a “very expensive operation to run,” when two members of the Board of Directors of the Allegheny Regional Asset District [RAD] pointed-out high administrative and depreciation costs in the Museum’s annual budget. Ms. Werner’s disinterest in these high costs was displayed during the Museum’s annual budget hearing before the RAD Board on September 6.

Glenn Walsh, Project Director of Friends of the Zeiss reminded the RAD Board of this disinterest at the annual RAD public hearing on Monday evening. He warned the RAD Board that the Children’s Museum business plan calls for layoffs, should the Museum run into financial difficulties in the near future. Mr. Walsh said, “So if there are layoffs in the near future, full-time staff members, who came to the Children’s Museum fully expecting long-time employment, will have their lives disrupted due to poor planning by the Children’s Museum management.”
